Homes for Lambeth has identified this site, on the corner of Hydethorpe Road and Thornton Road, as one for new homes.

The site is bounded by open green space to the north west and Thornton Road to the north east, and is currently occupied by an overgrown ball court.

To the south east of the site, there is a two-storey home, and to the south west, there are rear gardens and two-storey terraced houses.  The area is characterised by flatted developments up to 6 storeys in height and 2 storey homes.

Close by is the White House Preparatory School.  Streatham station, Clapham South underground station, Balham station and Balham underground station are all within a short walk of about 15 minutes.

The scheme

The project will provide 14 new homes, in a four to five-storey block, 50% of which will be affordable.

Redeveloping the site will provide an opportunity to improve the landscape around the adjacent 6-storey building.

The development will be car-free, and there will be cycle-storage for new residents.
